2004 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

Andrew Hayes
Andrew was a member of the Serteens and made youth mission trips to Tennessee, Alabama, and Texas.  An outstanding member of the GHS Tennis Team for 4 years, he was a member of the District Champs Team Tennis in the Fall of ’00, ’01, ’02, and ’03.  He was the district doubles champ in the spring of ’01, ’02, and ’03.  He was a member of the regional team tennis runner-up in the fall of ’01 and ’03.  He received the Golden Eagle Award and maintained a Superchampion ranking throughout his high school career.  He is attending Tarleton State University.

Lauren Pitcher
An active member of several clubs, Lauren was a member of the National Honor Society and Peer Assistance in Leadership.  She also received special recognition as most outstanding student for teaching internship (2003) and she was elected Homecoming Queen (2003).  She made mission trips to San Marcos and the Bahamas. She was a member of the varsity tennis team for four years.  She was super champ 18’s, won district singles, placed at regionals and was named varsity tennis most valuable player (2003).  She is attending college at the University of Mississippi and plans to major in elementary education.

Amy DeLeon
Being very active in high school, Amy participated in PRIDE, TAME, Serteen, Spanish Club, Voices in Action, and the Criminal Justice Club.  She was a member of the tennis team for 4 years and played on the Championship Girls Division for USTA 14’s, 16’s, and 18’s.  She received the Golden Eagle Award and she was a member of the district champion team and regional qualifier every year while she was in high school.  She is playing college tennis at Midwestern State University at Wichita Falls.  She is studying criminal justice.

Marcus Ventura
An active member in several clubs, Marcus was a member of Health Occupations Students of America., Teens Against Tobacco Use, and participated in clinical rotations at Georgetown Healthcare System.  He was a member of the varsity tennis team for four years, boys 14’s champ, boys 16’s superchamp, and boys 18’s champ.  He was a member of the USTA team tennis national finalist, USTA team tennis state runner-up, second all district as a freshman, and 3rd all district varsity team tennis finalists.  He is attending North Texas State University at Denton and plans to enter medical school after graduation.
