2015 EVHS Scholarship Winners

Alex Capps began playing tennis only 6 years ago! He is very active in various high school activities and UIL Teams as well as being very active in the youth group at his church! He plans to attend The University of Texas in Austin and major in Biology. He currently holds 3.72 GPA. 

Karina Calderon has also only been playing tennis for 6 years! She is also very active in her high school career with theatre, choir, bowling and of course Tennis! The list of non-school activities is extremely long and it proves she is very active within this community. She currently holds a 3.75 GPA and plans to attend The Culinary Institute of America! 

Carter Shouse has been playing tennis for 6 years and while learning the sport in school, also took lessons from Coach Pete at Georgetown Tennis Center. He is a member of the National Honor Society as well as a counselor for Vacation Bible School at his church. He currently holds a 3.90 GPA and plans to attend The University of Texas at Austin and study Petroleum Engineering! 

Alyssa Homerding began her tennis career 6 years ago at Tippit MS and eventually began taking group lessons at Georgetown Tennis Center. She not only plays tennis, she is part of Criminal Justice Club, the Business Professionals of American and is on the Sparklers Dance Team. Outside of school she is involved with her church as well as habitat for humanity and travels for mission trips. She currently holds a 3.5 GPA and plans to become a Sun Devil at Arizona State University!

Jordyn Finkenkeller began her tennis career 5 years ago when she took her first lesson at GTC with Coach Pete. She is very involved in school activities including tennis of course, choir and she is a member of the National Honor Society. She is also involved in a list of non-school activities including Alex’s lemonade stand, Cancer walk, and volunteers at the animal shelter just to name a few. She has received a Certificate of Excellence for her scholastic standing within the top 10% of her class. She has been on the varsity team for the last 3 years and holds a 4.0 GPA. She plans to attend the University of Mary Hardin Baylor where she will receive a degree in education and become a teacher.

Tyler Williams he has only been focused on tennis for about 3 years. He took a little break to focus on Band. He is in the national honor society and plays in the band. He has a reputation of being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, and courteous and stands out as a leader. A true Eagle Scout! He currently holds a 3.0 GPA and plans to attend Brigham Young University where he plans to major in Physical Therapy!

Jeffrey Watts has been playing tennis for about 5 years now. Lessons from GTC and Berry Creek round out his additional group tennis lessons. This young man also is involved in Cross Country, student council and several UIL teams. He carries a 3.9 GPA, honor roll, top 10% of his class and Eagle Scout! His math and science skills are pushing him into an engineering degree from the best school in the land, Texas A&M University!
